About Our Speaker
Dave Getz is a graduate of Hempfield High School, Valley Forge Military College, Susquehanna University, and the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University. After graduation, he served on active duty for over six years as an attorney in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps, serving at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the Sinai, Egypt, and The Judge Advocate General’s School in Charlottesville, VA. He joined Wix, Wenger & Weidner in 1988 and became a shareholder in 1992.
Dave’s first exposure to Rotary was as a camper sponsored by the East Petersburg Rotary Club at Rotary Youth Leadership Camp in this District when RYLA was held at a camp and not Messiah University, and the Camp was all boys (as Rotary was all men at the time).
Dave joined the Rotary Club of Mechanicsburg-North in 1992. He has earned the coveted Past President’s Pin. He has served on a number of club and district committees and is currently his Club’s “polio cheerleader”. He is the PolioPlus Chair for District 7390 and a member of the District Mentoring/ Retention Committee. Dave is a member of the Paul Harris Society and the District Polio Plus Society. Dave and his wife, Vonny, have attended five Rotary International conventions. They are Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation.
We are excited to announce that our club once again will sponsor four high school students to this year's RYLA! The four participants are:
Camp Hill School District - Jimmy Quinlan
Cedar Cliff High School - Joey White
Red Land High School - Gavin Bloom
Trinity High School - TBD
If you aren't quite sure what RYLA is or does, check out the RYLA Experience video!
District Grant Update
The RCWS submitted a grant intention form in March. A few days ago, we received the authorization to move to the next step which means completion of the grant application. The deadline to apply is April 30.
If you recall, the grant for 2023-24 focuses on mental health. The club intends to host a showing of a mental health-related film, followed by a panel discussion.
If a club member, or members, wish to take the lead on this project, please let Bim Arthun know as soon as possible.
